“To know that we know what we know, and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge.”
— Nicolaus Copernicus

Nicolaus Copernicus (19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543) was a Renaissance mathematician and astronomer who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center of the universe.

In 2015 Neubau was commissioned to develop a visual identity for ‘CIS* — Copernicus International School’, a new holistic private school opening in Long Island City, NY.
Analogous to Copernicus’ revolutionary model of the universe, the school’s visual concept is also based on the ‘sun’ as the center for all designs. The logo for CIS* is generated by an asterisk ‘*’, which symbolises the typographical equivalent to a star (= sun).

Copernicus International School is a bilingual (E/Spa), K-12, IB school for local and international families in Long Island City.
